This Cat’s “Play Dead”

Trick Deserves An Oscar Nomination!

by Averi Clements

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, so teaching tricks to a cat should be downright impossible. But don’t tell that to this dramatic feline. All it takes is a pointed finger, a fake gunshot sound, and a really talented kitty to take a classic trick and make it extra adorable. I can’t even get my cat to come on command, so I have no idea how they taught this cute little furball to do this!
We might think their best tricks are sleeping in impossibly tiny boxes and finding the best hiding spots, but there are plenty of cats that can do much more than that. This kitty, Didga, knows a ton of tricks that are typically attributed to dogs, but she proved that she can do them just as well, if not better! And some cats don’t even need to be trained to do some pretty impressive stuff. This one taught herself to ring the doorbell to get her human to come let her in! These cute pets are definitely smarter than most people give them credit for.
After seeing this cat’s awesome fake death, I feel like such a slacker for not teaching my own kitty any tricks. He sure does a great job of pretending to be an alarm clock at 5 a.m. when he’s hungry, but I don’t think swatting me in the face is nearly as good of a trick as this cat’s dramatic performance.

Did this kitty’s impressive acting skills wow you?
